New 50,000 won bill

The Bank of Korea unveiled the design of the new 50,000 won bill that will come out in June:

The new Korean 50,000 won bill.

The new Korean 50,000 won bill.

Pictured on the bill is artist Sinsaimdang from the Joseon Dynasty. On the other side of the bill is a painting of hers of plum flowers.

The bill is the same height, but slightly shorter than the 10,000 won bill.

Basically, this means that my wallet will get quite thinner and I won’t have to feel like a mafia hitman carrying wads of bills next time I buy a new camera lens.

Oh, and it does have similar numbers and color than the 5,000 bill. I sure hope I don’t get them confused.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Korean currency, until this bill is introduced the largest bill is W10,000  or less than $7.
